Uniqueness (data quality)
The data quality dimension that measures whether each real-world thing appears only once: no duplicate customers, products or suppliers.
Uniqueness breaks with duplicates: the same customer registered twice with the name spelled differently, or the same supplier under two codes.
Duplicates cost money (double shipments, discounts applied twice) and distort any customer analysis.
It is measured as the percentage of records without a duplicate. Detecting them well requires matching rules, because duplicates are rarely identical letter for letter.
