Data champion
A person in a business team who acts as the go-to for data topics: answers questions, spots problems and connects with the data team.
A data champion is not a new job title: it is someone in the team, interested in data, who spends a few hours helping colleagues.
Their role in a data literacy programme is key: they translate training into the team’s daily work, collect questions and flag data errors before they reach a report.
In small organisations the role often overlaps with that of data steward.
