Timeliness (data quality)

In a nutshell

The data quality dimension that measures whether data is available and up to date when it is needed.

Timeliness measures whether data arrives in time. Correct stock data that is updated two days late is useless for selling today.

It is measured as the percentage of data updated within the agreed deadline, or as the average delay between a change at the source and its appearance in the report.

The use sets the deadline: for prices or inventory it may be minutes; for a quarterly report, days.
