Data quality KPI

In a nutshell

A data quality metric tracked over time, with a target and an owner, to tell whether quality is improving or getting worse.

A data quality KPI is a metric with three additions: a target, an owner and regular tracking. For example, the percentage of duplicate customers, with a target below 1% and a monthly review.

It is usual to start with five or six KPIs on critical data, one per relevant dimension, and summarise them in an overall index per domain.

They are shown on a dashboard with three views: management, data owners and the technical team.
