Why this document exists

It's common to have a Data Governance roadmap with no way to know whether you're actually making progress, beyond the subjective feeling that "we're doing better than last year." This document turns that feeling into concrete numbers: what percentage of critical systems have an assigned owner, how long a quality incident takes to resolve on average, what percentage of business decisions use data from the governed catalog rather than standalone spreadsheets. These are the indicators that let you defend the governance program's budget to leadership with data, not intuition.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Audit Dashboard?

The Audit Dashboard measures compliance evidence for an external auditor. This document measures the health of the governance program itself — internal management indicators, not audit ones.

Do I need special tools to calculate these KPIs?

No, they're designed to be calculated from information you should already have in your RACI, data catalog, and quality reports.

Does this replace legal advice?

No. It's a working template that organizes program tracking, but it doesn't constitute legal, technical, or professional advice of any kind — see the included Legal Notice.

What format is it delivered in?

Excel with the 15 KPIs, calculation formulas, and reference thresholds by maturity level, plus a PDF interpretation guide.
